From the big round ears to the majestic princess castles, the Disney theme parks have an incredible appeal. Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, Disney transports you to another world, full of timeless characters, enchantment, and wonder.
A trip to Disney is one of the top family travel destinations. With a variety of park locations to choose from, each showcasing unique attractions and entertainment, it can get difficult choosing which park to visit. If you want to travel from Australia or any other location, Our Eat Pray Love Travel team has rated the six resort parks to help you decide the best Disneyland family travel spot for you.
6. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
Every Disney park contains thrilling rides, mouthwatering restaurants, and, of course, all your favorite storybook friends. Even though it is the smallest of the Disney theme parks, Hong Kong Disneyland delivers all the charm and fun you would expect from a Disney park.
Mystic Manor and Big Grizzly Mountain are exclusive rides, while many others are the same or quite similar to those at other locations. The shows are also long-distance replicas of ones at other parks. The similarity of attractions and entertainment, combined with it being the smallest of the vacation resorts on our list, is why we have ranked it last among the Disney resorts.
Don’t get fooled by its place on our list. It is still an incredible park full of all your favorite Disney characters and ambiance. If you can visit Hong Kong Disneyland, we recommend you do so!
5. Shanghai Disneyland Resort
As a new park that recently opened in 2016, Shanghai Disneyland Resort provides guests with state-of-theart illumination and technology combined with all of the Disney classics that we have come to love. The feel of this park is different than other Disney parks, providing the family with experiences that cannot compare to other locations.
If you are looking for a different family experience, Shanghai is unlike any other Disney Resort. It has some of the desired features like Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, but its Adventure Isle and Treasure Cove are a truly unique experience. It also showcases rides and attractions that cannot get found at other parks.
The Challenge Trails require guests to wear a harness for an adventure that is unbeatable. It also has a different take on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. While you’re swashbuckling, catch the Jack Sparrow stunt show, Eye of the Storm.
4. Disneyland Resorts Paris
Once you arrive at the Disneyland Resorts Paris, you will get engulfed in the world of Walt Disney. From enchanting creatures to pirates and witches, you’ll find stunning details at this resort. There’s even a dragon underneath the castle! You’ll enjoy magical rides and fine dining when you visit here. Wander your way through Alice’s Curious Labrinth, zip through the sky on Crush’s Coaster, or blast your way through Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. You’ll have a trip full of adventure with more than 50 rides available.
This park gets ranked fourth on our list due to Walt Disney Studios Park. The Mickey and the Magician show is fantastic, and there are a few rides that stand out. But the area doesn’t have the same magic and escape from reality as the rest of the resort. Regardless, it is a fun vacation destination for a delightful Disney encounter.
3. Tokyo Disneyland Resorts and Disney Sea
This park ranks third on the list of most visited parks, and the reasons why are clear. The stellar cast, nighttime parade, and Disney Sea are just a few of the terrific features of this resort. Tokyo goes above and beyond to provide guests the most unbelievable Disney experience possible. Magic emanates from every aspect of this enchanted land.
Disney Sea is an experience you can’t get anywhere else. Drawing inspiration from sea myths and legends, this unique attraction includes seven ports: American Waterfront, Lost River Delta, Mysterious Island, Port Discovery, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, and Mediterranean Harbor. Talk with a chill sea turtle, Crush.
Explore the ocean on a submersible, the Nemo & Friends Sea Rider. There are many must-see water attractions, including 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Tokyo Disneyland is one family vacation destination you must visit!
2. Walt Disney World Resort
The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, is a massive park covering over 25,000 acres. It contains four separate parks (each with a specific theme), two water parks, and all of the shopping and dining stops you could want.
The Magic Kingdom is home to some of the most popular rides and attractions, like Splash Mountain, It’s a Small World, and Space Mountain, along with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The most iconic and stand-out feature of Walt Disney World Resort has to be the famous Epcot. The number of top-quality tours available is unequaled by other Disney resorts. There are numerous shows and festivals throughout the year, from Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival to The Lion King at Animal Kingdom. With its size and variety of attractions, there is something for every member of the family.
1. Disneyland Resort
Anaheim, California, is home to the original Disneyland Resort built in the 1950s. It is one of the largest theme parks in the world and features everything you would expect from a Disney Experience.
